Johnson - Las Vegas) For your information, Mr. Vm. Reinhardt has authorized the employment o f Barber-Bridge d r illin g Corp., Ltd. o f Burbank, C alifo rn ia, to nake production test o f v e ils Nos. 2, k, 8# 9 and 10 at Las Vegas, Nevada, at a total approximate cost of #5000.00 chargeable to Operating Expense account 231. Contractor w i l l start moving h i a equipment to Las Vegas today and i t w ill take approximately 15 days to complete these tests. The reason these tests are being made at th is time is to determine what is necessary to increase water production from Railroad w ells at Laa Vegas so as to inertase amount o f water delivered to Las Vegas Land and Water Company fo r d istribution in the City of Las Vegas. Hevada Public u t ilit ie s Case Mo. 1027 against Las Vegas Land and Water Company was instigated in August, 1950# bo show cause why water being supplied to the City should not be increased. With under standing pumps would be in stalled in w ells B, 10 and 11 the Commission suspended action on th eir Case Mo. 1027. The pumps were subsequently in stalled and water supply increased some 3,000,000 gallon s.per day. During the past summer there was another shortage o f water and lack o f pressure which resulted in the City of Las Vegas again f i lin g complaint with Nevada Public U t ilit ie s Commission with request that the Water Company be required to increase it s water supply to the City. An informal hearing was held 0ot. 9th with members of the Public Service Commission o f Nevada by Mr. B. N* Bennett and the Commission members who agreed to withhold opening up the ease fo r 30 days to give us an opportunity to determine what could be done to increase our water supply, i t being Coxmnisalon members contention that by lowering pumpa in existing w ells and in sta llin g ptraps on w ells not now so equipped we could substantially increase our water production. Inasmuch as we have only 30 days to make our report to the Commission, Mr. Reinhardt authorized obtaining services of Barber-Bridge D rillin g Corp.Ltd. to start immediately to make these production testa. 1-308 OCT 15 1952 i l l C, c R.
