tooo W zy-?rh :-K p m rn LOS ANGELES ft-99? IN ABSENCE OF PIKE CHIEF ON VACATION I DISCUSSED SERIOUSNESS OF THIS SITUATION WITH CITY MANAGER WHO HAS JURISDICTION OVER BOTH FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS • HIS SUGGESTION UNIFORMED OFFICER BE EMPLOYED TO PATROL FOR WATER WASTE AND HE WILL ALSO ARRANGE FOR CITY EMPLOYES TO CHECK EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF WATER RUNNING INTO SEWER MAINS. HIS PERSONAL OBSERVATION AT DISPOSAL PLANT FEW DAYS AGO SHOWED SEWER MAIN RUNNING ABOUT HALF FULL AT 5 PM. HOWEVER, CITY ENGINEER ADVISES PEAK OF FLOW AT DISPOSAL PLANT IS ABOUT 10 AM AND ESTIMATES 5 TO 6 MGD. I REQUEST AUTHORITY FOR ONE UNIFORMED OFFICER $250-275 MONTH TO BE PUT ON IMMEDIATELY UNTIL SEPTEMBER 15 COST TO BE DEFRAYED BY LVLAW, AS HAS BEEN OUR PRACTICE IN PREVIOUS YEARS.
