Las Vegas - March 9 , 19^8 W 1 8 - 1 - 1 2 - A Mr. Frank Strong: I enclose for your files copy of letter from Q&nemona Drilling Company in connection with estimated cost of drilling the proposed 2 wells on Las Vegas Ranch. I have shown opposite the casing size the weight and type of casing referred to. Confirming our conversation* the casing is not on the ground at Las Vegas, hut Mr. Irving states he can secure same from Kelly Pipe and Supply in Los Angeles if desired. In conference with Assistant State Engineer Sharaberger and Harry Jameson here this morning, I explained we would soon submit an application to drill 2 wells on the Las Vsgas Ranch because of the fact that the City could no longer deliver water for irrigation purposes from the old septic tank. Mr. Shamberger stated he would give preference to the application as soon as it was received. I then accompanied Prank Rathburn, authorized State Water Surveyor, to the locations we decided on, first about 100 feet northeast of the Pioneer Monument on North 5th Street; and second north of the northwest corner of the old septic tank site; and requested Mr. Rathburn to promptly prepare required prints to accompany our application to State Engineer. As soon as this is received, will arrange with Mr. Gory to prepare the application. In this connection, the duty water in Nevada is assumed to be 1 SF to each 100 Acres. Using this formula, do you consider it desirable that we file for 2$ SF from each well. In the event it becomes necessary to install a Byron-Jaekson submersible in each of these wells, the power cost will be as follows: Power Rats First 2500 KW Hext 2500 KW Next 50000 KW All Over 50,000 KW 9 2 M KW 9 1.8* KW 9 1 i KW % KW A M.
