Las Vegas - July 9, l$b8 H 2-lOif Mr. A. G. Ritter: { o© - Mr. W, f . Price) Please note attached copy of letter from Qlaf Nelson Construction Company staking application * site west of the Railroad track and Just north of Charleston Boulevard where the old Stock Yards loop track is located. Nelson is the Contractor who just completed the widening of North Rain Street in Las Vegas, and he is now bidding on the construction of the Charleston Boulevard underpass. He states he wishes to locate permanently in Las Vegas and will receive shipments of cement, pipe and construction equipment. In addition, he has plana to manufacture cement pipe here. There art several things to consider in this respect: first, there is no assurance that Nelson will he the low bidder on the Charleston underpass Job, and whichever contractor recelvse this will wish to occupy a site close to the underpass: second, from a civic standpoint It would be better to consolidate the cement business on Bonanza Road to avoid complaints from residents in the West Charleston area: third, as I understand it, the Operating Department has not yet turned over to the Industrial Department the territory where the loop track is located. 1 note the lease to Gibbons A Reed, covering a 300* x 300* site south of the Bonanza Road spur track, will expire in September. Gibbons & Reed are not very active here and may wish to relinquish the leas# at that time. If you approve, we could offer this to Nelson. A. M, Polger
