\ Sets Tagas - April 10, 1945 1 18-1-13—A Mr. Frank Strongs Tour letter April 2, File 1-7334. I# are of course cognisant of the presence of the structures on the Ranch, east of 5th Street. These are the cabins surrounding the swimming pool and were built there, if I remember correctly, during the Doolittle lease In 1918. They were under sublease fro® about 1933 to Roy Gates, Senator Pittman*a brother-in-law, but were eventually purchased by fill Stewart, present lessee of the Ranch and included in the Ranch premises. However, in view of the lease provision to which you refer, probably the best thing to do. ia for me to arrange with General Attorney McSaaee to draw up a rider for the lease, stating that the presence of these Cabins on the premises (as well as the bungalow near spring east of 5th Street) will not be considered in violation of Section 8 of the lease. I am asking Mr, Mofemes to prepare such a rider* During the heavy influx of war workers to this territory a few years ago, we noticed a number of shacks and trailers grouped around the spring east of the road* Is arranged with Mr. Stewart for their removal to avoid any possibility of their acquiring squatters* rights, and also placed a lid and look on the spring box to prevent unauthorised use of the water. Sine# the bungalow has been oonetrueted there we have had no further trouble with trespassers, and inasmuch as our title to land-is acknowledged by payment of rental to lessee, the arrangement is not objection able but rather beneficial to us. 1 ALTER R. BRACKS!? cot Mr, L* A* Mofemee Please prepare rider, per our conference yesterday.
