L&s Vegas - May 24, 1943 R 2-103 Mr. Frank Strong? your memo May 19th, file 7334 regarding proposed lease to Eleo Roofs, covering site on Clark Avenue. I discussed the proposed lease with Mr. Con&rd this Morning. At the tine application was grade for this lease he had verbal assurance from contractor Installing houses in Hunt ridge Tract 6, that he would be awarded approximately #25,000 in flooring to be furnished .the house®. He now advises he did not receive this contract and in all fairness to the Railroad Company, he is willing to relinquish his lease in favor of a tenant who can furnish us more rail shipments. He advisee without the Huntridge contract hie rail shipment will amount to only 40 or 50 percent of the business he shipped last year by rail. He introduced Mr. D. V. Bigelow of Las Vegan who made application for the site to be used by himself and 0. W. Land of 401 Lincoln Flvd., Venice California, for the shipment of second hand material. Mr. Bigelow estimates this will amount to B oars per month outbound to begin with, besides some shipments fro® Santa Monica to Las Vegas which Mr. Land expects to make. I am not in favor of using this site for the collection of junk and would rather have a more favorable tenant. The building on the site belongs to Eleo Roofs and they are willing to sell it to the next tenant if desired. I have taken up Form 2209-A, covering the proposed lease and will hold same in our file pending recommendation of the Traffic Department as to disposition lease. of this cc - Mr. A. 0.
