boo - Mr. W. R.Bracken //)1 m i K a y 8, 194® The Regional Blreotor National W a r Labor Board 1355 Market Street San Franoisoo, California Bear Sirt Under date of April 26 on behalf of the Las Vegas Land and Water Company I submitted to the National War Labor Board Form 10 for approval of wage and salary adjustments for certain employes of the Water Company. I am advised that the application was submitted to your offloe. X do not know whether the reoent order of the President has made it necessary for your office to hold all of these matters in abeyance pending further instructions, but if not, I would very much appreciate it if we might have early action on our application» The present wages being paid are so far below those of other corporations in Las Vegas, especially the Basic Magnesium Plant a n d the McNeil Construction Company, that I do not believe we can hope for the employes, for who®, we are asking an increase to continue in our employ. Xf they do leave, 1 know It would be Impossible to secure other employes at the salaries now paid. Since the Water Company is a public utility and is engaged, among other things, in serving numerous defense housing developments, you can readily see that it would be severely crippled by the loss of these employes. 1 would very much appreciate it, therefore, if this matter might be handled at your early convenience. Very truly yours,
