Bennett Union Pacific Railroad Company 422 West Sixth Street Los Angeles, California Dear Sir: In response to your letter of January 21, 1947 relative to the troubles of the Las Vegas Land and Water Company with the Public Service Commission of Nevada, kindly be informed as follows: I had a conference with Burt Harmon, one of the Chief Engineers of our Water Department concerning your situation. In Long Beach we treat individual extensions and subdivision extensions on different bases. If the extension is one for an individual, it is a matter of separate arrangement according to the facts of the particular case in hand. Sometimes, if the extension is not long, and the individual is right, the extension will be made for him without cost. In other cases the Water Department attaches a meter at the end of the existing main and then allows the consumer to carry the water from there to his premises at his own expense. In regard to subdivisions the Water Department does have a rule somewhat similar to the one that you quote. I may be somewhat inaccurate in this statement because I have not had the privilege of seeing the order as yet. However, the Secretary of the Department is now making a search of the records of the Commission for me and hopes to find the order on the minutes of the Commission. If it can be found she is to make a copy for me and let me know. At any rate, I am informed by Captain Harmon In Re: Water Department Regulations.
