Guild, Assistant to the President, Los Angeles, California. / - Dear Sir: Referring to your letter January 23rd, with regard to address, February 11th, before the Elwanls club in Las Vegas, in the interest of water conservation. The reason for the suggestion of the committee, outlined in the office memo which Z sent you, that the water problem be stated without any suggestions as to the manner of correcting it, was that they felt natch more could be accomplished if the corrective measures were undertaken by the community, than if the water Company itself attempted to do so. In other words, it is their thought that if the community can be aroused to the fact that water is thefe» most preoious asset and without it the town cannot continue to exist, its Inhabitants would take a more active interest, than if it appeared the water Company was attempting to reduce consumption from a dollar and oents standpoint. I attach comparative statements of water consumption in Lae Vegas as reflected by master meter readings from month to month and you will note in July 1941 we averaged over six million gallons per day. Assuming a population of 10,000 people, which we serve in Las Vegas ( and this does not include North Las Vegas or the Boulder Syndicate, south of Charleston Boulevard,
