Laa Vegas - April 27, 195** W 2 > 1 B Hr* Wm. Reinhardt - Los Angeles Referring to our telephone conversation this date with respect to restrictions on use of water by citizens of Laa Vegas during the coming Summer season, I have arranged with City authorities as follows: The restrictions which will be covered by proclamation of the Mayor, and which will be published in the Review Journal and Las Vegas Sun before May 1st, will start on the 1st of May and continue through until the 1 5 th of September* I am advised by the City Manager that the officers previously employed for the purpose of enforcing the restrictions are now employed as school crossing guards, but will be released from that duty on May 28th and can be assigned to the water patrol on June 1st. While the restrictions will become effective on May 1st, Chief of Police Kennedy has arranged for his regular patrol officers to take care of the situation until the special officers can be assigned on June 1 st. I have also arranged for the Water Company to pay the two special officers to be assigned on June 1st’, at the rate of $322*00 per month each, which will result in a monthly billing on the Water Company of $6^4*00, starting on June 1st and continuing through to September 1 5 th unless the sale to the Water District takes place prior to that time in which case the Water Company#s employment of these officers will be terminated. Police Chief Kennedy advisee that each of the special officers to be employed will furnish his own car for which the City will furnish gasoline at its expense. I will send you a copy of the proclamation covering water restrictions as soon as I have received a copy thereof. X will also furnish you with a weekly report of the activities of the two special officers when employed, showing the number of citations issued, the number of convictions and other pertinent information relative to the activities of these officers".
