Las Vegas - June 19# 1953 ?Mr* ite* Reinhardt - Los Angeles ooi , L* 1* Bennett Yesterday, June 18, I received an anonymous telephone call from some woman who claimed to be a resident of property adjacent to Paradise Road just northerly of the Southerly City limits and who complained that the Wells-Cargo Company had a continual stream of tank tracks taking water from the fire hydrant 'in front of her property which was being hauled to the race track now under construction in County territory* She also complained that every time they opened the fire hyd­rant, pressure drooped in her house and that the tank trucks had created a bog in the street adjacent to the fire hydrant* She also stated that her neighbors were very much concerned afidjg planned to block the fire hydrant If this, the present situation, continued* After investigation, I find that the Wells-Cargo Company Is not now hauling water from this fire hydrant but is obtaining their water from a well in County territory back of the Sahara hotel* However, this morning a County watering truck was taking water from this fire hydrant for the purpose of settling the dust on Flamingo-Road about a mile or so South of the City limits# I contacted Mr* Rodney Colton, Clark County Road Comm­issioner, and advised him that in view of the present .water shortage and restrictions which are now in effect on the use. of water, he should arrange to obtain his water for road sprinkling purposes from some source not connected with the City water supply* .Mr* Cblton was very cooperative and agreeable end pro­mised to have his department immediately discontinue taking water from the fire hydrant mentioned above far sprinkling purposes and stated that he would discuss this matter with the other road commissioners at their next meeting which £ understand will be held tonight* .-LRH/tp L.
