Las Vegas - October 11, 1943 1 33-1-B it* Frank Strong!jHK9nHHg»E ; RUH .' • My attention has bean directed to an application for permis sion to drill a water well about a 1/4 mile scat of our new Well #11* The application is #11533 by Kenny Searlee for 1.5 SF to Irrigate ISOA.ln the SF/SI Soot,Ion 32 TS 30 S R 61 B. This application calls to mind a situation whioh is still growing worse in the Las Vegas t Artesian Valley* uneteratasd permits to appropriate water have already been issued covering more water than there is in the under— Sr und channel. You will recall our first protest in the riff1 th application was none too successful; unquestionably it made the oomfiamiiy more conscious of the importance in conserving the underground water supply, but apparently did not change the State Engineer•a policy of approving each application in the absence of a specific protest* ft iilid a general protest against drilling of wells in the vicinity of our holdings but were advised no action could be taken on such unless we filrd a specific protest* I believe we discussed the Bonanza brought, in by Mr* lick in the Paradise Valley about 6 weeks ago where he produced a flow of 3,000,000 G.P.Xtey* A well of this kind on the Searlea acreage would undoubtedly affect the production of cur wells* 1 Will be glad to have you discuss this with Mr* Bennett and advise whether we should take any action at this time* jj| WJSL WR f l .
