PROTEST EMERGENCY WATER ORDINANCE 247 C I T I Z E N S O F L A S V E G A S : The City Commission is considering passage of an emergency ordinance to curtail the use of water in the community. Since 1938 a total of 300 new buildings has been constructed. The Water company has made no preparations to meet this growth either through securing more water sources or repairing their own lines. The Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce and the City of Los Vegas have spent thousands of dollars to advertise this community and invite people to cdme here to make their homes and make investments. Yet we have a daily newspaper with a circulation of 5200 going not only into the homes of the city but to many parts of the United States. In this paper the W ater company has run advertisements warning the people not to use water because there is a shortage. Many people reading such advertisements and editorials as well come to the conclusion that this is a dry,"hot country not fit to live in. The people who live here know this is contrary to fact. W e know we have an abundance of water, with a large stream of water under the ground which «s available at little cost. This little cost would make this a city of beauty. Such advertisements, however, prevent people from coming here and making investments, and the word travels from mouth to mouth and results in retarding the growth of the Community. ! ask every citizen and taxpayer of the community to join me in protesting against the passage of Ordinance Number 247 as it now stands. Don't delay. It must be done at once. Send your written protest to the city clerk's office now. If you have not read Emergency Ordinance Number 247, please call at the Review-Journal office for a copy of the paper containing the ordinance. /? D . G . L O R E N Z ! W m / S S tM tl l ' .
