Las Vegas Nevada Evening Review-Journal November 15, 1938 WILL BE PASSED SOON, EFFECTIVE ON JANUARY 1, BOARD DECLARES Ordinance 243 Is in Effect Now and Fees Are Due By Tomorrow NEW SET-UP SIFTED Maximum License Fee Under New Ordinance Will Be $50 A n ew business licensing ordinance, to replace the controversial ordinance number 243, is Under consideration by the Las V egas city commission and w ill be passed w ith in a fe w days, to become e ffe c tive January 1, 1939, it was indicated b y mem bers o f the board at a m eeting this m orning. M eantime ordinance number 243 is in effect and all licenses for the last quarter of 1938 are due and the deadline for payment is tomorrow, Mayor H. P. Marble stated. Provision is made for differences: in the license rates under the new ordinance and those provided under ordinance- number 243. - The new ordinance states: “A ny person,, firm or corporation who has' 't>aid or shall hereafter pity any license fee dr fees under ordinance No. 243 of the; city of Las Vegas for the last quarter of the .year 1938, and such ] license fee in any case shall be greater in amount than that required by I the .provisions of this, ordinance [ for the same business, shall- be entitled to a credit, of such excess on any. license fee to be paid by 1 him under the terms of this ordinance and . the city clerk fa I hereby authorized- and directed to allow such credit upon any 1 license fee hereafter to become due under the terms of this ordin- . ance,” ' .’ i THE NEW ordinance -provides as follows: “ (A ) Where the average monthly. sales are under the sum of one thousand dollars] the sum of five dollars per quarter. “ (B ) Where the average monthly sales are one thousand .dollars and over, but are under two thousand dollars, the sum of nine dollars per. quarter. “ (C ) Where the average monthly sales are two thousand dollars and ovei;, but are tinder three thousand dollars, the sum of fif- . teen dollars per quarter. “ (D ) Where the average monthly sales are three thousand dollars and over, but are under four thousand dollars, the sum of ! twenty dollars per quarter. ’ “ (E ) Where the average month- I ly sales are four thousand dollars and over,, but are. under five thousand dollars, the- sum of | twenty-seven dollars per quarter, j “ (E ) Where the average month- I ly sales are fiv e thousand dollars and over, but are under seventy five hundred dollars, the sum of i thirty-three dollars, per quarter. ] “ (G ) Where the average month- | ly sales are seventy fiv e hundred j dollars and over, but are, under j fifteen thousand dollars,, the sum I of thirty-nine dollars per quarter. “ (H ) Where the average month- ; ! ly sales are fifteen thousand dollars and over, b u t’are under thir- i • ty fiv e thousand dollars, the sum t : of forty-five dollars per quarter. “ (I ) Where the average month- j ly sales are thirty-five thousand j ! dollars and over, the sum of fifty, i dollars per quarter.” “A ny person, firm pr corpora- ?
