    HOW TO SET UP AND USE KNOCK DOWN SHANNON TRANSFER CASES REG, U. S. pAT.OFr.. 2 Open the “ book” out flat. T h e bottom of the “ book” bears a . metal plate, with grooves, on either side. Insert the arch in the grooves, from the back of the plate T h e back is that part of the plate bearing a raised nib. Be sure to insert front of arch first. Illustration shows this clearly. When way in, the metal " n ib ” holds arch in place. ?| As you unpack the case, you will find three separate items; vis.: I a the “ book," the arch and the outside cover. 4 N ow bend in the two large flaps, with the one bearing • the metal fasteners, outside. These fasteners must be bent at right angles, as indicated by arrows. Press the sides of the cover together, until the bent fasten­ers will enter the two corresponding slots. 3 N ow take the cover, and form it into the shape of a box. Push . the side flaps way in, as shown. These must be bent in as far as possible, for reasons which will be made clear by illustra­tion % S . This cannot be done unless the two side flaps referred to in para­graph 3 are folded flat against the inside o f the cover. A fter clinching the fasteners, the side flaps should be pushed down, and the cover is ready for use. Insert the “ book” in the cover and you have a strong, con­venient and dust-proof Transfer Case.
