( C O P Y ) July 31, 1939. ,«r Mr. Carl Gray, President, Union P acific Railroad. My dear S ir: Yesterday morning Mr. Walter Bracken accompanied by Mr. Warren Woodard, visited us and Mr. Bracken’ s f ir s t words were: "Mr. & Mrs. Mink, I do not want to get a court order to put you o ff this ground." And he showed me a le tte r from you to him, and he le t me read that le tte r. Now I did not t e ll you in my la st le tte r why this small building was not finished. When we came to Las Vegas, we rented a vacant lot from some Colorado people and began constructing this building or work room. We were not there many days before we were approached by the landlady, wanting to know i f we would s e ll her home brew. We had already taken a license for a resturant. I told my husband that I was not going to disgrace myself and we decided to take lap the baking, and as soon as we would have a l i t t l e money to build on more - to move o ff their ground. This we did - we paid our money to the agent on this ground, getting a receipt for same, and moved here Saturday afternoon, June the 39th, I instructed Mr. Murphy, the mover, to put us back fourteen feet so as to leave room for a store building. The building was not o ff the truck when Mr. Woodard drove up and demanded to know what we were going to do. My poor husband very sw iftly told him, "Why we are going to have a l i t t l e store here", he replied, "Oh no you are not, I ’m going to have this corner, and I'm not going to have you here.
