    la s Vegas , Sevada* August 9, 1929 Mr* Carl K.Grpy, President, Union p a cific System, Omaha, Nebraska • Boar Mr* Gray: Acknowledging with enclosed copy o f le t t e r from Mrs* Castillo Mink in reference to her squatting on land owned by la s Togas land h Water Company* I have ju st shown Mrs* Mink's le t t e r to Mr* J.warren Woodard, who has since Canova'e fa ilu re leased that eertain por­tion o f acreage from us - and who i s one o f our most respected and best business men (haring resided here for the past 20 years); and requested him to w rite me a le t t e r containing a l l the fa cts as he is conversant with them in our dealing with Mrs* Mink, and I am herewith enclosing Mr*woodard's l e t t e r , o f even date* F irst l e t me state th ;t the e n tire contents o f Mrs •Mink's le t t e r represent §?oss mis statement s, and fearing something o f this kind when v is it in g Mrs* Mink several days ago, I took Mr*Woodsrd with me, fo r th is reason, I requested him to w rite a le t t e r in connection with her complaints* Mrs* and Mr* Mink were treated with the utmost respect and courtesy* I also took the time to explain to her that she was located on ground without lease or permit o f any kind; and that I had advised her when unloading th e ir shack to move back on land that was fenced in, and which was a t th at time proposed to be rented to Conova;-and la te r rented to Woodard - $nd that we could not and would not permit her to remain there* In my opinion these people are professional mo ocher s - and she o f the crying type • X daresay i f we would trace their liv e s back we would fin d a number o f instances in which situations lik e this one are not new to them* On the day they squatted on th is ground I was advised, and drove down personally and told them not to fin is h unloading th e ir ch attel; also advising Murphy (who was there unloading them o f f h is Inruck},however, they disregarded this and unloaded what they had from the truck* re c e ip t of your le t t e r o f August ninth
