Mr* Toland: #2 June 10, 1333 Multiplying tills daily production My 365 would give us 1,797,110,330 gallons per year as the maximum amount of water available from all sources, Possibly | am in error in this, and the only reason I am going into it in such detail is because the State of Nevada, in cooperation' with Federal agencies, is now preparing to make a: thorough survey of the underground water supply in the Las Vegas Valley, with a view to oarping those wells which are hot being put to the most beneficial use in order to oonsarv® the supply. I think it, is important, therefor®, for our reports to indicate that the largest' amount of all water produced is used by the Inhabitants of the town and for railroad purposes. Regarding the fourth paragraph of your letter. Item 1 is oorroot in reporting the source of water supply as two artesian wells-and two springs, Item Z is commented' on above, with, reference to the maximum amount of water available, and no doubt Mr# Strong will advise you further in this connection* Item 3 is correct - Ho water' pumped or div -rted • from'stream. Item 4, total water sold or meteredt I believe the figure 938,703,963 gallons la correct, although this conflicts with the figure shown opposite the same title in the second paragraph of your letter (941,333,937 gals.) Check of For® 7 compiled in your office Indicates there is apparently an error in the duly 1937 report, inasmuch as we repo.:’tad 14,504,171 cubic feet and Form 7 shows 15,504,171 opposite Item 38 "Cubic Feet'of later Soldi,— a difference of one’million cubic feet or 7,480,000 gallons. Item 5* total water unaccounted for, I bell v® should be shown as blank for the, purpose of this report, as shown on our report to you each year, as all water produced is used either in the city, by the railroad, PFF Co. and stock yards, or for irrigation purposes at the Ranch.
