I agree....Robbery of rooming house at Las Vegas... / Los Angeles, C a l., January 17, 1917* Mr. Walter R. Bracken, Agent, L.V.L.& W.Company, Las Vegas, Nevada. Dear S ir: Referring to your le tte r of December twenty-ninth in regard to robbery of rooming house at Las Vegas on Saturday, December twenty£*thixdj and returning the b i l l which was made out by J. A. Barnard, freigh t clerk, who sustained the loss. I cannot consistently authorize any payment to cover this loss, but I think you should arrange for the necessary locks with keys for the rooms in the rooming house in order to prevent similar occurrence in the future. In taking up this case with Mr. Cullen, he advises me that he had not previously received any report of this robbery and Agent Heaton advised that watchman was notified about the time No.l arrived at Las Vegas and that an e ffo rt was made at that time to search No.l to discover party who committed the theft. It seems to me that i f some publicity had been given this a ffa ir , it might have been possible to have apprehended the th ie f before he got out of the country, but it does not appear that there was any e ffo rt made to locate him on No.l after the search was made at Las Vegas. B-CI Yours tru ly , {/£
