Los Angeles, June 18, 1929. Mr. W. R. Bracken: In further reference to your letter of April 8th I am attaching copy of proposed Work Order authority designed to cover construction of frame addition to storage shed adjacent to company rooming house at Las Vegas. With return of enclosures please let me have your comments as to narrative shown on attached Form 30 as to "Necessity for Work". According to your letter April 8th the so-called oil truck has never been stored in a garage, rented or otherwise, hut has been left standing out in the yard. In this connection in order to support recommendation for proposed improvement involving a Capital Expenditure of #500 I would like to have further information as to the oil truck, that is, type, age, general condition, use being made, also present value and what if any further damage would occur by reason of lack of enclosed shelter. In other words I am apprehensive that President Gray will require a logical reason for providing enclosed shelter for an old truck which probably has been exposed to the elements for several years without anyone having bothered to provide adequate shelter. Aside from garage feature I note your letter of April 8th mentions use being made of existing 20 x 25’ shed. ^or storage of material and supplies including about 700’ of 4 pipe. Would it not be entirely practicable to store such surplus construction and repair material in our railroad storehouse at Las Vegas and thus avoid expenditure at this time for proposed 15' x 20' addition to store an old oil truck?
