    GAZETTE APR 21 1954 Renof Nevada LAS VlfGAS (Special) — The | city water rationing program in* effect last year has been urged for i 1854 by E. E. Bennett, general so- | licitor for ,the Union Pacific Rail­road, Tom Campbell, president of the Lias Vegas Valley Water Dis-trict, disclosed. Campbell at the same time an­nounced that the water company I has proposed immediate develop-rnent of additional production fa­cilities to implement the supply of local water. The water company proposal is based around a plan submitted by J. M. Montgomery, Las Vegas Val­ley Water District engineer, who suggested that two additional water wells be drilled immediately as the solution to eliminate a drastic wafer shortage in the area this Summer. /•- Montgomery also said that by equipping the water company’s ex­isting well ’No. 11 with a deep-well turbine additional wafer would be made available. MESSAGE. Here, in part, is a letter from the ; tip ’s general solicitor: "It is obvious that in spite of our proposed plan to drill new wells that the water ' situation will be very? tight from ' now until those wells are brought on production and' turned into oUr system, which L believe the engineers say will be a > matter of 60 days,” Bennett point-' ed.out. : "Under the circumstances, in,’or-der to assure an equitable distribu- ! tion of water and conserve so far as possible the existing'water sup- , ply; I would appreciate it if the . district would f ornaally requestfthe city commissioners to put in effect as of May 1, the water rationing-program that was in effect last •: year,” !
