Cahlan Ms Vegas Review Journal 737 North Main Street Las Vegas* Nevada Dear Sirs I have a copy of Mr. Campbell’s letter to you of April 11* 1933* concerning the status of the negotiations for the purchase of the water system at Las Vegas by the Las Vegas Valley Water District. Z think there is a misunderstanding on the part of Mr. Campbell that the Union Pacific repre­sentatives sure charging the District with delay in bringing the negotiations to a final conclusion. In ray telephone con­versation with you on April 10th X indicated that the Union Pacific was not holding up the negotiations* but, on the con­trary* had submitted a draft of an agreement to the District for consideration. It was not my purpose to indicate that there was delay on the part of the District in considering it. Mr. Renwlek tells me that there has been no disposition on the part of Mr, Hamilton to delay the negotiations relat­ing to the purchase and sale agreement and that he has never Intended to indicate the contrary in any conversations he has had with Mr. Hamilton, In spite of some of the statements in Mr, Campbell's letter 1 want to go on record as saying that X do not be­lieve that either party to these negotiations has delayed them. We are willing to continue to cooperate with the District and its representatives to the fullest extent to bring the agreement to an early conclusion. It takes considerable time for each side to consider and formulate proposals in connection with a transaction of this kind.
