Los Angeles, April 30, 1953 00-11 Mr. R. L. Adamsons (cc Mr, Wm. Reinhardt) The revision of the proposed contrast of sale with the District will provide that before the sale is completed, the Railroad will let a contract for the construction of the new pipe lines which It was originally contemplated the District would construct after acquiring the water system and for the removal of certain pipe lines and water lines across the Railroad properties which were also to be removed by the District subsequent to the acquisition of the water system. The said contract will also provide for the construction of substitute power facilities which will be required to operate the water production facilities in the water field. I do not believe that it has ever been decided just where the new power facilities would be located. It will be necessary for this matter to be immediately decided to enable us to draft a suitable contract. Will you please arrange to get in touch with Mr. Montgomery promptly and advise me what substitute power facilities will be constructed by the Railroad Company prior to the removal of the existing power lines across the Railroad lands so that the Railroad Company can continue to operate the water production facilities in the water field until the escrow for the sale of the water system to the District Is completed? For your information, it is not contemplated that the work to be done by the contractor will be done until the District has sold its bonds and the escrow has been opened. The escrow will be closed when all of the relocation work has been completed by the contractor and the other terms of the purchase contract have been complied with. ECRjMSB £. E. Bennett
