Los Angeles -,Sept. 5, 1952 80-11 Mr. Wm. Reinhardts _ ! V | cet Mr. W.R. Rouse „ Mr. Calvin M. Cory Referring to my letter of August 29th to Mr. Rouse, copy of which I gave you, in connection with the proposal of the Water District, dated August 25/ 1952, for the purchase of the Water Company and water-bearing lands and facilities; Initially, I note in my letter I referred to certain "quarter sections" in the first complete paragraph on Page 2. That reference should be to "forty acre plots". In other words, there were three forty-acre parcels lying immediately westerly of the water-bearing lands and three forty-acre plots in the northerly vicinity of the property. Mr, McNamee, attorney for the District, and Mr, Butterfield, a Director for the District, and Mr. Cory and I had a meeting yesterday morning in Mr. McNamee’s office, Mr. Campbell being absent from the city. | explained to them the necessity for the modification of Paragraphs (a) and (b) of their proposal due to the UFRRCo, appropriation of certain water in Well No, 1 and our desire to transfer that appropriation to the railroad shop well. Both Mr, Butterfield and Mr. McNamee stated they saw no objection to a reservation of that appropriation. I also drew their attention to the fact that it might become necessary to drill an additional shop, well in case the present one was not sufficient or failed and that we would, therefore, have to reserve that right. Her® again, they stated there would be no objection. Lastly, I drew their attention to our possible desire to drill wells on the Stewart Ranch and the reservation of certain water to the Stewart Burial Plot on the ranch and they stated they would recognise those rights. We then discussed the cut-off date of September 1st mentioned in Paragraph (e,) of the letter of August 25th* Mr, Butter field finally stated it was his recollection the cut-off date we had always discussed was May 1st and he seemed to go along with a modification of the cut-off date to the date of May 1st. However, in view of Mr. Campbell's discussion at our meeting, in Lcs Angeles, I am not certain that Mr. Butterfield can sell this idea to Mr, Campbell or the rest of the Directors.
