Nr. SJI. Nennett #5 fhm foregoing Chapter defines a "Hotel", as follows j * A building designed for, or occupied as, tbs mots or lass temporary abiding plaos of individuals who ar# lodged with or without meals, In which there are four or mors guest rass^ and In which no provision Is ?ads for socking in any individual room or suite." Nr. Johnson discussed this natter with Nr. Robert Alisa, Chairman of the Public Service Crass felon when he was In Las Vegas this week sad Nr. Johnson gained the impression that Nr. Allen would not look with favor on any elala made by a netel for eligibility under the hotel water rate. Nr. Johnson pointed out that nans of ths notels In Lae Vegas le a member of the National Hotel Association. Oa the contrary, most of ths motels and auto courts in Lae Vegee ere aehbcrs of a National Netel Association. We no longer have a rant control office in Lae Vegee end X have been unable to ascertain whether the motels were classified under the Bent Control Act as hotels. X do recall that both tbs hotels and motels la ths Lae Vegas area, during the administration of the Bent Control A ct, refused to let divorce clients stay maze than five consecutive days In carder to evade the Imposition of a vastly rate under ths Brat Control Act* X think the hotels followed this practice In order to avoid any question of their furnishing per* maasat accomodations mod thereby being subject to the Beat Control Act, and X believe the aotele followed this practice so as to be able to charge a day rate rather than a weekly or monthly rats under the Bent Control Act. Xt seems to me that we should be Able to present a sufficient ease to the Public Service Commission of Nevada to sustain the water rates already approved by the Commission for hotels wed motels. Xt alto seems that we should be able to demonstrate that the proposed move on the part of the motele le for the code and express purpose of obtaining a preferential water rate without changing In any manner whatsoever their general operation to conform to the general operation of a hotel.
