Clark, Engineer Las Vegas Water District 900 South 5th Street Las Vegas, Nevada Dear Colonel Clarks When I was in Las Vegas recently you gave me a small drawing which set forth the property owned by the Las Vegas Land and Water Company in the vicinity of their wells and reservoirs, and requested that I advise you as to what land I thought the District should take over in the event they were successful in acquiring the facilities of the Las Vegas Land and Water Company. After considering this matter, I feel that at the off-set the District should obligate themselves to purchase all of the land as Indicated on the drawing. Certainly, if later the District finds that some of the land is not needed, it would be an easy matter to dispose of same. On the contrary, however, if you don’t purchase some of it now, and the Water Company sold to others and then you found out later that you needed the land, it might be too late to acquire same. Offhand, I would say that it is too bad that the Water Company didn’t retain more land surrounding their wells than they did, in order to protect their wells against interference with other wells, I certainly wish the District all success in their negotiations, as I have been, in the very beginning, one of the greatest supporters of the District idea. The District needs the facilities of the Water Company in order to support the importation of water from Lake Head.
