I agree.(For publication in Las Vegas Evening Review Journal, June 10 1938) ' . • «l T H E W A T E R B I T P A T T Q TJ The people of has Vegas are urgently requested to cooperate to the fullest extent in conserving the water supply of the City. Daily measurements taken at the source of supply indicate all of the wat^r produced is being used up, as well as a portion of the reserves in the city reservoir. In past years, during the hot summer months the City has been faced with a similar situation, caused by excessive waste. To remedy this, an additional well was drilled a little oyer a year ago, to insure a sufficient supply during June, July, and August»• Based on the per capita consumption of other cities throughout the nation, the amount of water produced for Las Vegas should be suf— ficient for a city of twioe our present population. Please help us conserve the water supply during this emergency period, which will exist for about 90 days. It is a violation of the City Ordinance to permit your hose to run out into the street, or to permit water to run |nto the city sewer line without putting it to beneficial use. The principal cause of the heavy drain on the city water supply is the abnormal use of water for cooling purposes; the highest efficiency can be secured from your cooling machine by using only enough water to wet the excelsior pads.
