A RADIO TYPE INSTRUMENT WITH WHICH PIPES AND CABLES CAN BE SURVEYED RAPIDLY AND ACCURATELY WITH NO CONNECTION TO THE PIPES WAat OAey $)x> TRACE . . . Any line, pipe or cable can be traced accurately as last as the operator can walk. LOCATE DEAD ENDS . . . At a distance beyond the dead end equal to ? the depth of the pipe, the signal lades out. CENTER EXACTLY . . . A pipe or cable can be centered accurately in a few seconds. For pipes, of average depth, centering can be o ado withinh a space narrower than the diameter of the pipe itself. For work of this kind it is obvious that the instrument can save a considerable amount of labor and time. MM*?' MEASURE DEPTH . . . By means of a special device built into the receiver ?and a very simple manipulation, the depth of any pipe or cable can be measured in a few seconds, using only a tape or yard stick. No calculations are involved. DETECT UNKNOWN PIPES When .operated as an induction balance as shown in the illustration at right, the instrument has. extraordinary power to detect not only all pipes & cables, but also such obscure objects as short stubs, gates and small covers. CONSTRUCTION . . . The instruments consist of self-contained transmitter units and self- contained receiver units. These can be used mounted "together on handles provided {induction balance operation), or They Can be used separately as shown in the illustrations. The instrument cases are of hard wood with tempered Masonite, panels, and the removable covers metke the interiors readily accessible for inspection or battery replacement. Circuit wiring and chassis are entirely enclosed and all interconnections are fully cabled. Finish is red enamel protected by spar varnish. The red color provides protection to operator on traffic1 congested streets. Hardware and fittings are of corrosion-proof construction and throughout the instrument protection against moisture is carried to the practical limit. SEPARATING CLOSE PIPES . . . The extremely sharp signal response of this instrument makes it particularly valuable on City streets, where there are many pipes and cables closely paralleling each other. Where the spacing is too close for separation by the usual method, a special device is provided by which a particular pipe may be energized thus permitting it to be worked independently of the others. ALL PURPOSE MODELS MODEL 81 OTHER USES . . Stubs and services can be loddted readily by simply carrying the detached receiver along over the pipe in a position perper. dicular to the transmitter. Ells and tees are also found in this way. DETECTORS AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR THE DETECTION AND LOCATION OF LEAKS IN WATER AND LOW VISCOSITY FUEL LINES LEAK DETECTORS WAat OAey n MODEL ML-47 MODEL L-46 FEATURES . . . LIGHTWEIGHT. INSTRUMENTS ARE CONTAINED. ENTIRELY SELF- NO STORAGE BATTERY REQUIRED. SIMPLE TO OPERATE. USE HI-FIDELITY CRYSTAL PICKUP AND HEADPHONES. USE li/2 VOLT DRY AND ONE 45 VOLT CELL "A" BATTERY B DRY CELL. HAVE A GUARANTEE OF SUPERIORITY. Under favorable conditions, a leak can be worked by simply placing the microphone on the pavement above pipe. This method -is applicable 'where tile pipe is suitably embedded Jb; allow the viberations to travel to the surface. I They can be used to follow underground drill bits by detecting the sound of the bit as it bores through the ground. They can be used to detect leaks in steam and air pipes. IBlfetrumedits are operated by making Contact in any convenient manner with the pipe. This can be done by a rod through a jack-hammer hole at a meter service or a hydrant. GOLDAK VALVE AND BOX LOCATOR WAat 9t QxyeA. The Goldak Model 620 Metal Detector locates valves, buffalo boxes, covers lost tools or any buried metals. It works through pavement, snow, cement, etc. OPERATION — 'The instrument can be operated by untrained personnel. It is simply carried over the ground and when a metallic object is passed over, a loud, sharp signal tone is heard in the headset. CONSTRUCTION — The Model 620 ;jg: lightweight and ruggedly built for use under all conditions. The instrument compartment is steel, with tough crackel finish. The handle is aluminum and the exploring unit is of sturdily constructed hardwood, well finished.
