PLIERS, THERMO-ELECTRIC By using a pair of Thermo electric pliers the solder can he melted from copper lugs into a container. The solder can he then melted into hers for re-use* This method is very satisfactory since not onty is it very fast hut it leaves the lugs properly tinned, thereby eliminating tinning when they are again used* POLES, CEDAR Poles may he salvaged hy cutting off decayed sections from either top or hutt to make the nearest usahle size, shaving off decayed and spur-marked sapwood with draw shaves or portable power driven rotary planers and plugging holes with creosoted wood plugs. Re-treat the hutt section with a hot and cold dip in creosote. Defective poles which must he scrapped may he sold for such uses as, parking lot logs and fence posts, or they may he cut into heel logs, or hreasters or sawed into lumber for such uses as crates, reel repairs, or reel lagging, or out into firewood, POLES, I ROE, STREET LIGHTING The damaged portion may he cut out hy use of motor driven hand saw and a new piece welded hack with an electric welding machine. One company lines up the broken parts of the cast iron poles and welds them together. Poles can then he tested for strength and painted. POLE, DISCONNECT SWITCH Repair or replace hook, and varnish. POLE, PIKE Sharpen point, sand paper pole or replace pole if splintered, paint handle with spar varnish, cover point with short piece of water hose*
