    Broken parts may be welded, non-standard items changed by grinding or sawing to standard dimensions. Paint and retouch galvanized parts if necessary. ARRESTERS, LIGHTNING Clean, replace broken or cracked caps, paint chipped porcelain with glyptal lacquer. Splice or replace leads, inspect com­pounded joints for cracks, refill with new compound when necessary and test for operating condition* Salvage parts from rejected or broken arresters. Mounting brackets may be cleaned, rusty spots may be painted with a rust preventive paint or regalvanized completely. ASH, PLY Pulverized coal-fired boiler ash may be used for admixture in the manufacture of concrete building tile (Rostone process), or fill for asphalt paving material. One company reports the use of fly ash in the manufacture of sweeping compound. AUGER, POST HOLE Points may be bent to shape, sharpened if necessary, head tightened on hollow handle, hollow handle straightened, spring and latches checked and replaced if necessary. Telescopic handle may be cleaned, straightened, handle checked and tightened or replaced. Rod should be oiled; paint all over except points.
