TRIDENT PROTECTUS FIRE SERVICE METERS THE Trident Protectus Fire Service Meter was designed to meet the following requirements of: 1. The Waterworks Official—Accuracy. 2. The Underwriters—Low loss of head and reliability of operation. The Trident Protectus Fire Service Meter is the only Fire Service Meter that has ever received the official approval and met all the requirements of a fire service meter from the Underwriters’ Laboratory, Inc.—the Official Testing Laboratory of the National Board of Fire Underwriters. The construction of the Protectus is such that all parts of the meter are contained in a single cast-iron housing. The low flows are measured through a standard Trident Disc type positive displacement meter, while the large, or fire service flows, are measured through a standard Trident Crest Turbine type meter. The construction of the Protectus Fire Service Meter, whereby accuracy is obtained and loss of head reduced to a minimum, is thoroughly protected by exclusive Trident patents. Oil-Enclosed Gear Trains are standard equipment on all these meters as are heatproof removable rubber bushings in the Register and Gear Train. TRIDENT STRAINERS TRIDENT Strainers are of the Basket Type and are made for use with all size meters, ranging from to 10" diameter, inclusive. Their construction is simple and durable, the body consisting of a large cast-iron chamber. All sizes have sufficient capacity to accommodate a deposit of sediment that will require considerable time to accumulate, so that cleaning is required at infrequent intervals. Basket Strainers are constructed of heavy, perforated sheet copper, tinned, and every part of the Strainer is made easily accessible by the removal of the cover plate.
