\ -2- Because the lesser height (about 201 feet) that the pumping plant at the Lake will have to lift the water a much greater capacity is created so that the same pumping plant at the Lake will deliver fifty million gallons of water a day to the reservoir at Manganese Ores. From Manganese Ores Reservoir a new pumping plant comparatively cheap in cost, will deliver water through the 201-foot lift, to the Henderson Reservoirs in more than ample quantities to meet all their possible requirements. From Manganese °res Reservoir, a gravity flow pipeline built along the eastern slope of Las Vegas Valley will deliver an ample supply of water to a standpipe near Charleston Boulevard east of Las Vegas. From this standpipe the water may readily and cheaply, be pumpred to the mains of the Las Vegas Water System in any quantity needed. An important part of the project so far as the government is concerned is the "Exchange Water Concept". This means that in case of any disaster which might put the Lake Mead pipeline out of commission, water from the Las Vegas artesian water system would flow back through the pipeline to the Manganese Ores reservoir in sufficient quantities to enable the plants to continue full operation for a reasonable time without closing down. This is a most important consideration so far as BMI plant lessees are concerned. The above in brief is the plan we are proposing to Las Vegas Valley Water District . We believe it is sound and may be properly financed through private channels without necessarily calling for government aid. Yours very truly, Charles P. Squires.
