Las Vegas, Nevada, Evening Review-Journal, Dec. 24, 1941. 1,000 HOMES TO BE ERECTED SOON AT MAGNESIUM PLANT Contract for construction of j 1,000 demountable houses to take j care of construction workers at the magnesium plant, was let this week by Defense Plants Corporation it was learned from a reli- able source. Cost of the houses will be $4,- 500,000, and they will be used as ( a temporary housing set-up to take care of the construction i workers, it was stated. Representatives of Defense Plants could not be reached for verification of the report, although Joe Rice, Washington , executive, spent several days here in con- j ference with officials of local utilities and other groups interested in seeing construction of all new houses allocated to Las Vegas and Boulder City.
