\ H. C.' Nutt-------2. nection with this company at common points, such as Pomona, Ontajrto^and River side* so we could, interchange traffic on a switching basis, instead of as now charged, twenty percent of Missouri River revenue and turning the traffic over to us at Colton or San Bernardino. The Traffic Officers of the Southern Pacific and Santa Fe have asked me a number of times in the past five years if we would not agree with them to discontinue building packing houses. I told them frankly that I could not agree to recommend such action until we had erected as many houses ae they owned. I would suggest that you ask the Southern Pacific Company for statement showing the number of packing houses owned by them, their location and rental paid for same, and should you procure same I am of the opinion that the position of this Company will be considered most conservative. You will note that this Company only hauled eleven percent of the citrus crop last year. See letter next attached from Mr. Burtner on this subject. Enc
