A..&.S.L.R.R., Los Angeles, California. Dear Sir:- Referring to your joint letter 19th instant, quoting Mr. Tilton’s letter of the 18th about rate on gravel, Hoya Pit to Las Vegas, for use in construction of additional employes' cottages. It seems to me the question of a reasonable rate for hauling this company material depends largely upon the hind of cars you are going to haul the gravel in. If this material is loaded in cars of SO,000 or 100,000 capacity, #10.00 per car would, hardly be fair, but if loaded on flats with fifteen or twenty tons, I should think #10.00 per car would not be far off, as this would be approximately one cent per ton per mile.
