, Las Yegas, Bev.,-Mar* 26, 1912• Hr.H.I.Bettis, Tice President, Las Yegss Land & Water Co., Los Angeles, Cal. Lear Sir: < I Leg to acknowledge receipt of jour letter under date of March 13th, making inquiry in regard to the cess pools. She construction of these cess pools is simply the excavation in the ground, covered with 6x6 timbers, with 2 inch plank on top. She trouble we have had with the caving of cess pools was caused from the fact that these timbers in all cases were cut too short for the excavation, only extending over the edge 6 inches. As a cess pool becomes filled, the seepage moistens the ground and the consequence is that it caves in. fhe cess pools we have been requiredto fix we have used 6x6 pieces, but always long enough to prevent caving in the future by Yours truly, - .
