BRACKEN, VlCE-PRES. and AGT., LAS VEGAS, NEV. Mr. J,Ross Clark, Pres. LVL&W Co., Los Angeles, Cal $f. Dear Sir: Las Vegas, ITe vada July 10, 1920 On account of the increased cost of materials and wages, I believe it would be a good matter for us to advance the room rent here in the roominghouse from $10.00 per month to $12.00 per month. I realize that the roominghouse and the company houses are maintained for the purpose of caring for employees but I do not believe that we should continue maintaining and running these places at a loss to th6 Las Vegas Land and Water Co. for the benefit of the Mechanical Department. A-$2.00 raise on the rooms here at the roominghouse would mean an increase of $98.00 per month and this would show our monthly balance on the right side of the ledger. As to the raising of the rents of the company houses, I also believe that should be done as I now have fifteen vacancies, but as to this matter, I will wait and talk it over with you personally. If you approve the raising of the room rents, kindly advise me and I will get out a little circular for distribution to each roomer that' on account of the increased cost of all materials, laundry work etc., we will be compelled on and after July 1st to raise the room rent to $12.00 per month. Yours truly,
