Proposed rental of cottages at Las Vegas: Mr. J. Ross Clark, Second Vice-President. Los Angeles, California. Dear Sir:- Replying to your letter September fourteenth, Pile No.1199. I return herewith file of papers sent me therewith, being correspondence passing between Mr.Bettis and yourself with reference to rental to be charged for the new cottages at Las Vegas. I am afraid that the rents suggested of $22.00 and $25.00 per month for the four and fire room cottages, respectively, will be a little too high, and liable to cause complaint from tenants or prospective tenants. I make this statement for the reason that only a few months ago, prior to opening new terminal at Imlay, Nevada, the same question of rentals for the new company houses constructed at that place, was thoroughly discussed; and after giving the matter much thought and consideration, it was decided to make the rent $15.00 per month for the four room cottages and $20.00 per month for the six room houses. They are modern cottages with bath, stationary wash stands, toilets, etc., and the rental charged for them pays after deducting depreciation, taxes, etc., a fair rate of interest on the investment .
