San Pedro, Los Angeles & Salt Lake ompany ENGINEERING DEPARTM E. G. TILTON, CHIEF ENGINEER Electric power for lighting Station Las Vegas. Los Angeles, Cal., March 3, 1910. File No. 599. Mr. J. Ross Clark, Second Viee-Pres., Building. Dear Sir:* Replying to your letter of February 28, 1910, your file 3Io. 1199, concerning lighting the Las Vegas Station Depot from the power plant in Yegas. If it is desired to furnish light to the building from our generating plant it will be necessary to install a small generator for that purpose because it would be extremely expensive to run one of the large generators at night merely for this purpose. In the Shop layout, lighting the shops and grounds was not contemplated except on the nights when the shops were in operation. At such times electricity for running machines as well as lighting will be produced by the power plant. If it is desired that provision be made for lighting the depot and grounds at other times, an additional small generator and boiler can be installed. This would cost more or less, fSOOO.OO and the monthly expense of running it at night, unless the shops are in operation every night, would be approximately $100.00 for wages, « fuel and upkeep.
