I agree.copy ^ Mr. Douglas Whit©, Industrial Agent, Salt Lake Route, Los Angeles, Calif. Dear Mr, White: In acoordano© with instructions from you, I visited ' on May 11th the lands near Hannix where Mr. A. W. Bull and associates are laying out a town sit© and platting a colonization movement. I was met by Mr. Bull at Otis, California, and taken by him in an automobile over the entire project. The project lies right along the line of the Salt Lake Route, and as a matter of fact, the Railroad cuts the project in two. I believe the project is some 15 miles from Otis. According to your instructions, I mad© particular investigation as to the soil and water conditions. The soil is a very light sandy loam, covered in the main with chaparral. Do samples of soil were taken for analysis since Mr. Laird J. Stabler of the University of Southern California had already submitted an analysis of these soils. The analysis as submitted by Prof. Stabler is as follows: Insoluble matter -------------------- 66.02 per cent. Soluble silica ----------------------- 9.SI n » Potash pi 2.0}---------------------- .82 ? " Soda (N.A. 2 0)----------------- .46 " " Lime (C.
