Vice Pres. S.P.L.A.&S.L.R.R.Co, Dear Sir: For some time past we have been interested in the development of lands along a portion of your road, in what is now called Orchard Valley, situated ten miles east of Otis,California. We are now in connection with reliable colonizing agencies, which places us in a position to bring hundreds of home-seekers.intd this part of the country* 3®#ihg to the fact that the greater portion of the land in Orchard Valley has been filed upon, we must needs look elsewhere for lands,in order to supply the present and future demands of our agencies. It having been my good fortune to personally inspect and' ex- 8,nin other tracts of land along your line of road, princibly, lands around G&flia, Gene, and also lands extending up into the Ralston Valley, I am of the opinion that watei’ can be developed sufficently to make them yeald very profitable crops , and which are of sufficent acrage to afford homes for great numberseof people. Realizing that such a thing would mean quite a financial help to your road, I write to enquire as to whether we may expect any encourag- ment or assistance from you, such as colonizing rates and advertisements. I would have been pleased to haveltaken this matter up with you at a prior date, but knowing that your time would be greatly taken up by business connected with repairing of damage wrought by the recent wash-out, I perfered to wait untill things became a little more settled. If you think this worthy of your consideration, I should be pleased to hear from you through the mail, or if desired, will call upon you in person. Respectfully^' Address: #107 Edgerly Apts. #1029- So. Hope St. Los Angeles, Calif.
