i JflvOBj MYTON 421 D. F. WALKER BUILDING SALT LAKE CITY UTAH August 8, 1904. Mr. J. Ross Clark, Los Angeles, Cal. Dear Mr. Clark You will probably remember me as having been introduced to you by Mr. Prank Knox of this city. I have also been recommended to you by letter by Sena-'tors Kearns and Smoot and Mr. R. C. Kerens. I also refer you to Messrs. Gibbons, Whittemore and Wells of your company. As you know I have been trying to be manager of your townwite company, and I had several talks with the Senator, your brother, last week and I gather from what he says that he is not ready to do anything in this line yet, and after talking with Mr. Whittemore this afternoon I find that your representative at the Las Vegas Ranch is anxious to get away from there and at his suggestion I write you making application for the position as manager of the Ranch, hoping that in the meantime that I can convince you that I have the ability to manage a town when you lay if off. I do not know on what terms you would want me to take hold of the Ranch but I will make the proposition to attend to it for $150.00 per month,or if you would prefer, I will take hold of it on a percentage, giving you a certain per cent of the net proceeds and am willing to leave that percentage entirely with you. I hope you will give my application favorable consideration as I believe I can do both the company and mys&lf some good if I get down in that country. Very respectfully,
