Mr* Hartley ex­plained to me that your note with many others he held for collection be- . However, he said that you hold his receipt for the note with description of same which, will be ample to Obtain its renewal* Further tells me ha has been writing you occasionally in explanation of collection on this note, but says the Cummings' have, as yet, paid him nothing, However, he speaks well of Mr, and Mrs. Cummings and says he believes in time the note will be paid in full,* I do not know Mr, Cum­mings, only understand from Mr. Hartley that his business is real estate. Notes in this state do not outlaw for six years from date of last payment ' made on same, ; Mr, Hartley says he will writ© you at once about;the above matters. With reference to your Riverside lots, would say, that ab present in my opinion, their value is purely nominal, but the Oregon Short Line are reconstructing their road south of here and the Leamington Cut Off, which will become their main line, runs out1of the city in that direction, and
