The meeting was called to order by Secretary Harry E. Miller at 4:02 P.M., Tuesday, June 26, 1956. The following Directors were present: Harry E. Miller S. R. DuBravac R. E. Thorn William L. Rosevear Absent: Thomas A. Campbell G. William Coulthard C. Norman Cornwall Also present: W. C. Renshaw, Leo A. McNamee, Mary Jean Barozzi and Carl Hyde CONTRACT NO. 3. PREPARING SERVICE CONNECTIONS FOR METERS Chairman Miller announced the first business on the agenda was consideration of award of contract under Contract No.3, Preparing Service Connections for Meters. He noted that bids had been received on June 19, 1956 from Longley Construction Company in the amount of $10,557.03 and George E. Miller in the amount of $11,578*50. In response to a question, Manager Renshaw advised that the low bid wa3 approximately $3,000 higher than had been estimated. He felt that the District could not award many contracts at the prices indicated on these bids, but that it might be well to award Contract No. 3 in order to find out just how difficult the work will be and how much expense will be involved. Following a brief discussion, a motion was duly made by Director Rosevear, seconded by Director DuBravac, and unanimously approved by the four Directors present, that Contract No. 3, Preparing Service Connection for Meters be awarded to Longley Construction Company at the unit prices quoted. Mr. Carl Hyde joined the meeting at this time. CARL HYDE REQUEST FOR ZONE VARIANCE Mr. Hyde advised that he felt he should explain his request to the City for a zone variance on the property recently purchased from the District. He displayed a drawing which outlined what he planned to build on the parcel, including the three guest houses which required the zone variance.
