159 President Campbell explained that it would be necessary to appoint a successor from Division No. 7 which covers the Henderson, Pittman and Whitney area. Following a general discussion, the Board agreed to appoint George Ullom as Director from Division No. 7, providing he would accept the appointment. A motion was duly made by Director Cornwall, seconded by Director Miller, and unanimously approved by the four Directors present, that the resignation of S. R. DuBravac be accepted forthwith and that a letter of appreciation be written to him, and further that George L. Ullom be appointed as Director from Division No. 7 effective immediately, providing Mr. Ullom accepts the appointment. The meeting was recessed at 4 j50 P» M., and called to order again at 5j00 P.M. WESTSIDE LAUNDROMAT Ihe Board reviewed a letter from Chet Gonce protesting the rates charged the Westside Laundromat and requesting that the District install a meter on the premises and adjust the past bills on the basis of the meter readings. Following a general discussion, the Board agreed that Mr. Gonce should be advised that the District could not install meters upon individual requests, but hoped to have the Westside area metered in the near future. Also, that it would be impossible for the District to make any retroactive adjustment on his bills based on meter readings. Director Thorn suggested that Mr. Gonce be advised that if some of his machines were disconnected it might be possilble to reduce the flat rate now being charged. The Manager was instructed to advise Mr. Gonce of the Board’s decision. ESTABLISHMENT OF COLLECTION STATION FOR WATER BILLS IN WHITNEY Manager Renshaw asked ftie Board to consider the possibility of establishing a collection station for water bills in Whitney if this could be arranged at a nominal cost. Following a brief discussion, the Manager was requested to study the matter and report back to the Board at a later date. DELINQUENT ACCOUNTS President Campbell advised that it was his understanding that some of the local utilities were having difficulty making collections and asked the Manager if the District was experiencing any trouble along these lines. The Manager advised that since the District had adopted new measures, eliminating letters notify­ing the customer of a shutoff and substituting a tag on the door advising of a shutoff the next day, that collections had been much better. TELEPHONE NOTIFICATION OF MEETINGS OF TOE BOARD President Campbell suggested the possibility of eliminating telephone notification of Board meetings. Following a brief discussion, it was decided that no telephone notification would be given of regular meetings, but that the District telephone operator would contact the office of each of the Directors prior to adjourned meetings. It was also decided that the practice of obtaining telephone confirmation that Directors would be present would be discontinued. COLLECTION STATION AT WHITNEY At this point Director Thorn referred back to the discussion of establishing a collection station for water bills at Whitney,and asked who would carry the insurance on the collections to cover loss by theft or through embezzlement by the collector.
