2 0 4 SPECIFICATION A-8 - AWARD OF CONTRACT Manager Renshaw advised that the tabulation of the bids had been completed and that Worthington-Gamon Meter Division and Keenan Pipe & Supply Company were tied for low bid. Following discussion, there being no objections, the Directors agreed to draw lots to award the contract, Mr, Helmstetter of Keenan Pipe & Supply Company drew the name of Worthington-Gamon Meter Division. A motion was duly made by Director Cornwall, seconded by Director Rosevear, and unanimously approved by the four Directors present, that Specification A-S, Furnishing Water Meters, be awarded to Worthington-Gamon Meter Division in the amount of $47,841.50. n ? The representatives of bidders were excused from the meeting at this time, SPECIFICATION NO, 103, SCHEDULE III - REQUEST FOR WAIVING LIQUIDATED DAMAGES Manager Renshaw advised that B-I-F Pacific in a letter dated March 6, 1956, had requested that liquidated damages under Specification No, 103, Schedule III be waived. Copies of the letter were distributed to the Directors. Following discussion, the Chair requested that a decision in the matter be deferred until a full Board was present. The Directors present agreed and the matter was deferred. COMPLAINT - RUPPERT PLUMBING COMPANY Copies of a letter from Ruppert Plumbing Company dated March 5, 1956 protesting the service installation charges were distributed to the Directors for consideration. Following a brief discussion it was agreed that a decision in the matter be deferred until a full Board could be present. BACK WATER CHARGES - MYERS AND OTHERS Manager Renshaw advised that an unauthorized connection to the District system near the Stewart Burial Plot had been discovered recently. Nine people are involved, some of them innocent victims in the matter, since they purchased their property with the understanding that it included rights to water from the private line which was found connected into the system. The Manager requested a decision from the Board relative to collecting back charges from July 1, 1954. Following a lengthy discussion, it was agreed that the people involved should be billed for the back charges and if they do not respond, the matter is to be turned over to Attorney McNamee for handling. CHARLESTON HEIGHTS RESERVOIR - APPARENT LEAK Manager Renshaw reported that about a month after the north basin of the Charleston Heights Reservoir had been filled a wet spot was discovered on the slope below the reservoir which might indicate a leak in the north basin. The north basin has been drained in an effort to determine whether or not the water is actually coming from a leak in the reservoir. If it is, the contractor will be responsible for repairing it. By draining and refilling the north basin we hope to be able demonstrate conclusively to the contractor that the water is originating at a leak in the reservoir. WESTSIDE PUMPING STATION SITE At the meeting of February 7, 1956, the Directors considered a request from the Union Pacific Railroad for the return of the Westside Pumping Station site in accordance withthe Purchase Agreement. The matter was.put over until Attorney McNamee returned to prepare the papers.
