    they could for the balance of this calendar year, after which the County Commissioners expected to have some meagre funds which could be made available to the Water D is­trict as a further loan. The Commissioners suggested that the District prepare a budget of their anticipated expense for 1952 calendar year. The Directors then discussed the delay which has arisen in receiving an engineering re­port which Jess Larson, head of General Services Administration said, on September 1, 1951, would require but a couple of weeks to formulate. The report was to cover the anticipated future water needs of the Lessees at B . M . I . , as well as the "safe" daily quantity of water that the 40-inch pipe line can maintain. N o action was decided upon, pending developments which may be disclosed at the next regular meeting of the C o lo ­rado River Comm ission on October 26th next. M r. Slater, West Coast Correspondent for N EW S-W EEK M agazine, called on Mr. Campbell at the time the meeting was in progress, so was admitted to the meeting, as he wished to discuss the political side to the impasse which has occurred in getting Lake water through Henderson. Being in town to cover phases of the com ing A-bamb experimental work, he heard of, and desired more information about, the blocking of the District's plan by some political maneuvers. The Directors decided to give M iles Pelikan, Los Angeles representative for the John Nuveen & C o ., financiers, an opportunity to present any plans he has for financing the purchase of the local water utility. The Manager was instructed to advise M r. Pelikan that Friday, October 26th, at Henderson, would, be a convenient date for the Directors to meet him at Henderson headquarters of the Colorado River Commission. The Manager asked approval from the Directors of his plans to attend the convention in San Francisco of the American Water Works A sociation during the week of October 22-27th, at no expense to the District, as the Manager will bear his own travel expen­ses. Approved. * Current bills totaling $259.51 were approved and ordered paid on motion of V ice Presi­dent Butterfield, seconded by Secy-Treas. Coulthard, and unanimously passed. The bills were as follows: Campbell Realty Company, Telephone calls, etc. $121.94 Rex A.
