Jack Young, who had promised to give us a craft talk today, was un-able to do so. * * * * * * * * * * * * COMING PROGRAMS March 9th — Bernice Warner, girl scout, will speak on the sub-ject: "International Friendship Be-gins at Home." March 16th — We will be favored by the presence as guest speaker of Almon E. Roth whom several of the older members remember well. Mr. Roth was formerly President of Rotary International; District Governor of the old District No. 2; Comptroller of Stanford University; Manager of Waterfront Employers Asso-ciation, a personal friend of our Pro-gram Chairman Ed Converse—in fact, one of the outstanding Rotarians of the country. * * * * * * * * * * * * * ALLYB SAYS "DUES" Fellers — Your secretary is very bashful, about asking for money, but —ubie still has a few cards to be picked up for this quarter. * * * * * * * * * * * * * LAST WEEK Our last week's meeting was con-ducted by the considerable group of Arizona Rotarians who arrived at Las Vegas Airport by Bonanza at 12:45 pm. Our meeting began at 1:00 in deference to the visiting Rotarians. President Leonard yielded the gavel to George F. Miller, President of the Phoenix Club, who presided over the meeting. Howard Smith, son of our old friend Anson Smith, for many years editor of the Mohave County Miner (Kingman) and one of the early and enthusiastic boosters for the Boulder Canyon Project, was speaker of the day. He gave a very interesting address on the Central Arizona Pro-ject, legislation for which was re-cently passed by the United States Senate and is now before the House of Representatives. Following the meeting, most of the Arizona delegation were taken on a visit to Hoover Dam and Boulder r City and a boat trip on Lake Mead. President Leonard is considering acceptance by Las Vegas Rotarians of an invitation to attend a Rotary meeting in Phoenix in the near future. * * * * * * * * * * * * DIRECTORSt Don't forget to meet at John Beville's residence Monday night, March 6th, at 7:30. The District lias sent out a list of quali-fications for prospective Rotary Presi-dents: Must be an active, additional active, past service, or a senior active, in good standing; Should possess the ability to assume the leadership of the Club and possess the esteem and confidence of fellow members.; Should be prepared to give the time and effort necessary to lead and carry on the work of the Club; Should have served in his Club as a Board member or as chairman or member of one or more of the major commit-tees, or as Club secretary; Should have attended one or more dis-trict conferences; Should have a working knowledge of the Constitution and By-Laws of the Club, the Aims and Objects plan of Rotary. (It is also desirable that he should have attended at least one International Convention before assum-ing office, if possible.) * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * FORMER VEGAS R0TAR3AN Guernsey Frazier, a former Las Vegas Rotarian, and also Assistant Plant Manager at Basic Magnesium, Inc., while it was in operation, had luncheon with your Wheel Committee yesterday. Guernsey extends greetings to Las Vegas Rotarians. He is obliged to re-turn to his home in Los Angeles because **of the illness of Rotary Aan^Marie, but expects to return soon and visit Las Vegas Rotary. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * NEEDLES PARTY Pat Easton, President of Needles Rotary Club, has written a cordial invitation to President Leonard, inviting Las Vegas Rotary Club to attend their Tri-State Meeting at Masonic Temple, Needles^ March 18th. The meeting will start with dinner promptly at 6:45 p.m., followed by a program featur-ing Glenn Gin, immediate Past-Pres-ident of Tucson Rotary Club as principal speaker. His subject will be "International Service," and should be especially interest-ing because of the fact that he just returned from an extended trip to China. The evening will be closed with a real Rotary dance. Now, it used to be that those Tri-State meetings were high spots in our Rotary activities. Fifteen or twenty Las Vegas Rotarians or more would visit the meeting at Needles or Kingman and have a won-derful time. Then when it was our turn to entertain, thirty or forty Rotarians and their Rotary Anna from Needles and Kingman and all over the southwest would come and have a dandy time.... I wonder if Las Vegas Rotarians have become ossified—or what?.... One in particular, from T. A. ANDERSON, President of Tempe, Arizona, Rotary Club, says: " I just want to say for Doc Hight and myself that your Club is a wonderful host and we certainly enjoyed our inter-city visit last Thursday.
