Wayne was later inducted into Rotary by none other than District Governor Eck Hiestand. Welcome, Wayne, Rotary Ann Bernice and daughter Marlene. * * * * * * * * * * * APPLICATIONS Applications have been presented to the Board of Directors to fill the following classifications: "Land Man-agement", "Resorts". * * * * * * * * * * * EDITOR ON TRIP Pop Squires, genial Editor of the "Wheel", is spending the week in Car-son City with his daughter Florence Boyer. Bet he attends at least one Rotary meetingj * * * * * * * * * * * ANOTHER TRIP President Leonard drove Governor Eck to Caliente last Friday (probably to see how Caliente Rotary does it). He reports that the Caliente Club has twenty-one members and that, contrary to the general idea, the town has no vacant homes, and things are O.K. RESIGNATIONS We are sorry to lose Maj Sweeney "Title Insurance", who has resigned because of his change of address to another part of the State? the name of the village escapes the editor's memory just now. Vern Willis "Airline Traffic" has tendered his resignation as of December 1st, when he will leave Western Air and go into business for himself. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * PRESIDENT LEN'S PAGE Immediately upon his return to Los Angeles, District Governor Eck Hiestand wrote us a very nice letter from which I quote, in part: "We got an entirely different picture of Las Vegas than we previ-ously had in mind. It is a sound, solid, high type town and the Club is an excellent and a strong one." In our Club assembly, which lasted well into the afternoon, the District Governor discussed our weaknesses with us. To obviate the cliques that various members admit-ted existed within our group, he advised "honest observation of the classification principal" and "Ro-tary information to the luke warm Rotarian, for a man who knows Rotary is enthusiastic about it." Under Community Service, Paul McDer-mott's $10,000 library fund drive, and Scoop Garside's "broken toy pro-gram received great commendation.
