NAM PLANS VEGAS MEETING President Leonard has received a letter from Edmund T. Price, Di-rector of the National Association of Manufacturers, inviting Rotari-ans to attend a meeting to be held on Monday, October 24, at noon, in the Ramona Room, Hotel Last Front-ier Mr. Dave Moulthrop, Indus-trial Consultant of the NAM, New York, is making a trip from New York especially to address this meeting. The meeting is being planned by the Employers Association of South-ern Nevada, Las Vegas Chamber of Com-merce and Las Vegas Lions Club, in cooperation with the NAM. "Time is running out for the sys-tem of individual enterprise we have known in this nationj This is a discouraging statement but its gloomy truth is becoming more and more ap-parent as we observe the thinking and actions of individuals in high gov-ernment authority. "There is one hope, however, for those of us who believe in the funda-mental American concept of freedom and enterprise. It is to give our people—the people who work for us in our own companies, in our own city—a better understanding of our system— how it operates—how it serves their individual interests better than any other possibly could," said Mr.Price. ON THE MOVE. Weary Uilson and his Ann Betty are still oh j^he move. WHEEL OF ROTARY P a g e 3 VISITING ROTARIANS The following Rotarians, members of other Clubs, were with us last week: BILL STONE Seattle, Wash. E. A. Come again, fellows. CHECKING UP We are told that Cyril Wengert has been a few days in Los Angeles being checked over in a hospital. Hope that nothing out of the way was found. ADVANCING Ensign Robert P. Gatewood is this week being advanced to the rank of Lieutenant, we arc informed. Lieut. Gatewood, as you all should know, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Gatewood, and son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Wengert. AT SANTA MONICA. It is reported that Mike McNamee is enjoying a stay Santa Monica. LETTER FROM JOHN Secretary Allye has received a let-ter from our wandering Rotarian, who has at last reached his old stamping ground—St. Petersburg, Florida. He says, among other things, that he plans to move to Las Vegas for his permanent residence next spring: that living here the past few months has spoiled him for any other place. Smile and the world smiles with ycu, Sing a song. Don't be weary, just be cheery all day long. Whenever your trials, your troubles and your care Seem to be more than you can really bear, Smile and the World smiles with you, Sing a song. THERE'S A LONG, LONG TRAIL There's a long, long trail a-winding Into the land of my dreams, Where the nightingales are singing And the white moon beams; There's a long, long night of wait-ing Until my dreams all come true; Till the day when I ' l l be.going Down that long, long trail with . you.
